Reading the results
Sticks report a position from −1 to 1 on each axis. At rest a good stick sits within about 3% of the centre; the dot should snap back to the cross when you let go. Pushed to the edge it should reach close to 100% in every direction.
Triggers on PlayStation and Xbox controllers are analog, so the bar should rise smoothly from 0 to 100%. A trigger that jumps, sticks or never reaches 100% may need cleaning.
Buttons turn solid while pressed and stay marked once you have pressed them, so you can tick off all of them. A button that flickers while held, or registers twice, is worn.

How do I test my controller online?
Connect it to your computer or phone by cable or Bluetooth, open this page and press any button. Every button, trigger and stick appears live; press each one to tick it off.
How do I know if my stick is drifting?
Run the drift test: let go of both sticks for three seconds. A healthy stick rests within about 3% of centre. The result tells you how far yours wanders and which dead zone hides it.
Which controllers work?
PS5 DualSense, PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Switch Pro Controller, and most USB or Bluetooth gamepads your browser recognises.
Does it work on iPhone, iPad and Android?
